100 things your kids may never know about...

There are some things in this world that will never be forgotten, this week’s 40th anniversary of the moon landing for one. But Moore’s Law and our ever-increasing quest for simpler, smaller, faster and better widgets and thingamabobs will always ensure that some of the technology we grew up with will not be passed down the line to the next generation of geeks.

That is, of course, unless we tell them all about the good old days of modems and typewriters, slide rules and encyclopedias …

Audio-Visual Entertainment

1. Inserting a VHS tape into a VCR to watch a movie or to record something.
2. Super-8 movies and cine film of all kinds.
3. Playing music on an audio tape using a personal stereo. See what happens when you give a Walkman to today’s teenager.
4. The number of TV channels being a single digit. I remember it being a massive event when Britain got its fourth channel.
5. Standard-definition, CRT TVs filling up half your living room.
6. Rotary dial televisions with no remote control. You know, the ones where the kids were the remote control.
7. High-speed dubbing.
8. 8-track cartridges.
9. Vinyl records. Even today’s DJs are going laptop or CD.
10. Betamax tapes.
11. MiniDisc.
12. Laserdisc: the LP of DVD.
13. Scanning the radio dial and hearing static between stations. (Digital tuners + HD radio b0rk this concept.)
14. Shortwave radio.
15. 3-D movies meaning red-and-green glasses.
16. Watching TV when the networks say you should. Tivo and Sky+ are slowing killing this one.
17. That there was a time before ‘reality TV.’

Tron Legacy Trailer [Comic-Con 2009]

Michael Jackson's alleged son is a rapper

A 25-year-old Norwegian rapper is making headlines, because he is claiming to be the fourth child of late pop superstar, Michael Jackson.

Omer Bhatti traveled with Jackson and lived at the Neverland Ranch, after allegedly befriending the singer when he was 12-years-old.

Bhatti, who sat with Michael Jackson’s family and siblings during a high profile memorial service last month, is seeking a DNA test to prove that Jackson is indeed his father.

Jackson himself admitted to being Bhatti’s father, claiming he had a one-night stand with a Norwegian woman in 1984.

Bhatti was living with Jackson in 2004, when authorities raided the Neverland ranch seeking evidence related to the singer’s child molestation charges.

Even Michael Jackson’s family is not denying the possibility that he may have sired Bhatti, who is known for his imitation of Jackson’s dance moves.

"If Omer's his son, he's his son," Jermaine told Britain's the Daily Mail. 'We won't deny it. We are going to give him the same love and care that we give Prince and Paris and Blanket. I can't clearly say if he is Michael's but I saw this kid around him."

Michael Jackson allegedly told close confidants that Bhatti’s mother was unable to take care of him, so Jackson sent two employees to Oslo to raise the baby as their own.

Bhatti was told that he was Jackson’s son, but had to keep it a secret for his own safety and privacy.

Other sources claimed that Bhatti’s biological parents were simply employees of Jackson, with his other Pia, acting as a nanny for Michael’s son Prince, while his father Riz, was allegedly a drive for Michael Jackson.

In 2004, Bhatti was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana, just days before he was supposed to perform in front of 20,000 people for an anti-drug rally.

Gatorade honors Michael Jordan

On Monday night St. Alfred & Gatorade invited FSD to be a part of a Gatorade commercial entitled "Then. Now. Forever" honoring Michael Jordan's induction to the Hall of Fame.

23 people were selected to place the final Gatorade bottles on this gigantic Michael Jordan mosaic piece on the corner of 18th & South State Street. Scottie Pippen, Bill Wennington and Jackie Joyner-Kersee were also on hand to contribute to the 19,000 bottles that completed the MJ piece.

via Yahoo Sports:

A street art tribute to Michael Jordan made out of 19,000 Gatorade bottles, including the new Gatorade Limited Edition Jordan Series, glows on a basketball court Monday on Chicago's South Side. Local Jordan fans and longtime Jordan teammate Scottie Pippen helped construct the mosaic, which Gatorade organized as a way to celebrate Jordan's Hall of Fame career.

After the commercial wrapped, the guests were treated to a dinner and an after-party hosted by Gatorade, which featured dinner, drinks, pop-a-shot, Michael Jordan collectors t-shirts - and Biz Markie on the 1's and 2's.

Snaefel

Dubbed “Snaefell,” the 1000cc Laverda motorcycle has three exhausts, and its sidecar offers a luxury ride in comparison to regular sidecars. The designer has employed different parts of a Kawasaki 1000RX and a number of cars to accomplish the motorcycle sidecar, which took 10 years and nearly 15,000 Euros to combine biking and luxury car ride in a single vehicle.

Thinking about not making music anymore????

I see this question all over the internet in almost every music forum I visit. Music producers or Artist on the verge of giving up music, and getting rid of all or their music equipment. So I wanted to address it.

may do some rambling, so before you go any further, the answer is NO! You shouldn’t stop making music.

I believe many music makers ( Artist and Producers) get frustrated because what they see on TV and read in magazines isn’t happening for them yet. But in reality, everything happens differently for everyone. Your experience can be harder or easier. It’s all about how you handle those situations. If you allow the rejection of one label, artist, manager, etc, to stop you from pursing your dreams. Then the dream may have not been that important in the first place.

If you have been working hard for years, and still haven’t got to where you want to be. I would personally focus on why you got into music in the first place. For me, music is a way of life. It’s involved in almost every part of my day. From driving to work, to helping me get through the work day, driving back home, then some how involved in the TV shows and movies I watch at home. It’s everywhere. How could you not want to be involved with it?

Things you should consider before quitting music:

Are you in music for fame, or creativity?

If you’re in it for the fame. What is your definition of fame? Is it being seen by millions of partially supportive fans? Or having a small community of diehard fans who believe in you and think you are making a difference? If it’s for creativity, then good. It’s nothing like creative expression. If your frustrated because you’re not being heard the way you want. Then look for new ways to get heard and put your name out there.

Is your job your life purpose?

I’ll be damned if my life purpose is to only work a 9 to 5 job. I need more, I believe I’m destined for greatness. I don’t know in what, but I’m going to work my butt off until I get there. And if you don’t have a bigger plan. Keep music as a hobby to bring balance to your life. Work alone as your full time focus can make you nuts. Make sure you stay balanced by having hobbies in your life that make you happy.

Can you live with giving up?

Life with regrets is a unhappy one. Try to live life to the best of your ability and know you gave your all in everything you do. So you’re not 65 and say “I could have been a good producer or artist. I think?”

Have you exhausted all possibilities?

I know many people who want something in life. But aren’t putting in the needed work to get to where they want to be. Have you tried everything that you possibly can to succeed? I’m sure you haven’t. Because there are many different ways to do something. Find those new ways and do them, and give your all.

Side Note: A big part of the music industry is about who you know. So network more, and find to people who can open doors for you. This is related to exhausting all possibilities, because you should be finding ways to get your name out there to people, and if you are good at something. Odds are, people will support you.

So in closing. There are tons of stories out there of people trying to be a actors for years before they get their break. Business after business after business failing before it finally succeeds. And the story goes on. You will not have success without failure. Just keep working, and don’t give up. Keep
hope alive!
